Cooler temperatures the past couple of days may have provided some relief, but there are still warmer days ahead.  

There¡¯s no other way to say it: It is hot in schools. Please know that we hear you. We empathize with you, and we¡¯re doing everything we can to address the heat. Unfortunately, there is no quick or inexpensive fix. 

This update has information about what ±«Óãtv is doing about the heat now; a forthcoming school year calendar survey; and an air conditioning feasibility study.

We exist in ±«Óãtv for our students. We are one district, one team with one plan, wanting the best opportunities, experiences and success possible for all students. 

If you¡¯d like to learn about the School Performance Frameworks and ±«Óãtv's accountability process, please plan to attend an informational session in September. 

Two informational sessions are scheduled:

Fourteen ±«Óãtv schools have been selected for Governor¡¯s Distinguished Improvement awards or John Irwin Schools of Excellence awards for their achievements in the 2021-22 school year. One ±«Óãtv elementary school was recognized with both.

The Colorado Department of Education recently honored schools and districts across the state that won 2022 performance awards for outstanding academic student growth and/or achievement.

±«Óãtv students once again performed significantly better than their peers statewide on standardized testing, according to spring 2023 assessment data released Aug. 17 by the Colorado Department of Education. 

Today, we had the absolute joy of welcoming our roughly 30,000 students back to schools. From meticulously manicured lawns to carefully cut kiwis and delightfully decorated classrooms, we were ready.

Superintendent Brian Kingsley has more to share about what he experienced on the first day of school. 

Players from ±«Óãtv¡¯s four comprehensive high schools will go head-to-head again in cross-town football games at Colorado State University¡¯s Canvas Stadium this fall during the Canvas Community Classic.  

Fossil Ridge and Fort Collins High Schools will kick off at 4:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 6, at Sonny Lubick Field on CSU¡¯s main campus in Fort Collins. Following that, Rocky Mountain High School will take on Poudre High School at 7 p.m.

As a student, the transition from middle school to high school is a huge milestone. It is a time of excitement, growth, and new opportunities. However, it can also be a daunting experience for many students, with the change in environment, academic expectations, and social pressures.
