Policies Under Review ¨C Submit Your Feedback!

Each of ±«Óãtv's district policies will be reviewed for potential updates and revisions on a regular basis. The following are the policies currently being reviewed, along with the proposed revisions and a link to a survey where ±«Óãtv staff members, students, community members, and alumni can submit feedback on those proposed changes. For the policies listed below, the deadline to submit feedback via the survey is Monday, January 19, 2026. The policies will be presented for a first reading on January 13 and a second reading on January 27.
 

Policy JICA ¨C Student Dress

Policy JICA is the District¡¯s dress code, detailing what students can and cannot wear to school and school-related events. The policy has proposed updates so that permissible dress is based on objective standards, not subjective assessments, as well as proposed updates for clarity. A section was added for graduation ceremonies, to align with recent changes in the law. This policy also has proposed updates to align with standardized policy language.

Policy JICDD ¨C Behavioral Threat Assessments

Policy JICDD covers the District¡¯s authority to conduct behavioral threat assessments to identify, assess, and manage potentially dangerous or violent situations, and for behaviors occurring on District property or connected to a District activity or event. The policy has proposed updates to include definitions of ¡°behavioral threat assessment¡± and ¡°behavioral threat assessment team¡±. Language regarding the purpose of a behavioral threat assessment was also revised.

Policy JICDE ¨C Bullying Prevention and Education

Policy JICDE addresses prevention, intervention, and response to bullying. The policy has proposed updates to definitions and a reorganization of the prevention and intervention goals and methods. The policy also revises the investigation section to align with the investigation procedures in Policy AC-R1 ¨C Harassment and Discrimination Investigation Procedures for Students.

Policy JICF ¨C Secret Societies and Gang Activity

Policy JICF prohibits secret societies and gangs in schools and at school related events. The policy has proposed updates to add a definition section, address equitable implementation, and align with standardized policy language. A section on staff training was removed.

Policy JICI ¨C Student Conduct Involving Weapons

Policy JICI prohibits weapons on school grounds and anywhere District-related. It defines what a weapon is and lays out the protocol for when a weapon is brought to school. The policy has proposed updates to add a ¡°Firearm Facsimile¡± section, to align with state law, and to add a section on accidentally bringing a weapon to school. There were also edits throughout to make the policy internally consistent and clear, and to align it with standardized policy language.

Policy JLIE ¨C Student Vehicle Use and Parking

Policy JLIE covers responsibilities and obligations for students who park and drive vehicles on District property and in District parking lots. The policy has proposed updates to provide clarity on expectations for parking a vehicle in a student-designated parking lot and the process for revoking a student¡¯s privilege of bringing a motor vehicle onto school premises.

Policy JT ¨C Youth Suicide Prevention

Policy JT lays the groundwork for policies and procedures around student suicide prevention, including requirements of District staff and mental health school service providers when a student exhibits suicidal thoughts or behaviors. The District has robust internal guidelines and procedures around suicide prevention in addition to this policy. The policy has proposed updates to align with standardized policy language, and to add a suicide risk screening as a requirement of mental health school service providers.

NEW POLICIES

 

Note: This policy replaces the previous version titled Sexual Harassment Investigation Procedures.

This policy states the district's commitment to a safe work environment and outlines procedures for when there are harassment and discrimination concerns. 

 

This policy applies graduation, diploma and certificate requirements to students who enter the 9th grade for the first time in the 2025-2026 school year and thereafter.
