Most ±«Óãtv schools are operating on a normal schedule today following the restoration of power.

Due to continued high winds and unsafe transportation conditions, Red Feather Lakes Elementary, Livermore Elementary, and Stove Prairie Elementary are closed today.

Because of wind conditions, bus transportation is not available today for students who live in the mountains and attend other ±«Óãtv schools.

We appreciate our families¡¯ patience and understanding as we prioritize safety and continue to monitor conditions.

As a precaution due to the possibility of a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) by Xcel Energy, Bethke Elementary, Timnath Elementary, and Timnath Middle-High School will be closed Dec. 17. All athletics and activities at these schools are also canceled Wed., Dec. 17. This decision was made to ensure we do not need to dismiss students during the school day if power is shut off for an extended period.

At the Dec. 9, 2025 Board of Education meeting, the board approved the school calendar for the 2026-27 academic year. We want to ensure families and staff are aware of the changes, particularly the later start to the school year, so you can plan ahead.

2026-27 School Calendar Important Dates

The calendar reflects feedback from employees, families, and past community surveys, as well as state requirements and ±«Óãtv¡¯s employee agreement. Key updates include:

Kinard Core Knowledge Middle School girls cross country didn¡¯t just bring back a state championship with their win in late October, they made history as the first girls team in school history to earn a state championship. 

The ±«Óãtv strives to innovate across all operations, including transportation. Next year, that work will advance with two important additions. 

The ±«Óãtv offers countless resources to students to ensure academic success every single day, from individual help to systemwide support. But one program many may not have heard of has had a tremendous impact on students for the last half-a-century. 

Last year, a controversial late-game call stopped the Wellington Middle-High School football team from claiming the Colorado 2A championship. This year, the Eagles couldn¡¯t be stopped! WMHS earned the state title with a dominant win over Elizabeth High School. 

At the Nov. 18, 2025 Board of Education meeting, the Calendar Committee co-chairs shared the first reading of the proposed school calendar for the 2026-27 academic year. The Board will consider the calendar for approval at its December meeting.
